The purpose of the Fuel Mitigation and Exterior Hazard Abatement program is to reduce the potential for loss of life or property by reducing the risk of fire propagating from wildland to structures, structures to wildland, and parcel to parcel. 

The weed abatement deadline is June 1.  Inspections begin the first weekday of June. 

At times, the records are not always up to date, especially with recent changes. Notices are sent to the last known owner on the County assessment roll. If you have received a notice for a property you no longer own please contact our staff by calling (925) 838-6600 or emailing frontdeskstaff@srvfire.ca.gov.

There are two ways to report a non-compliant property. The easiest is with the SRV Fire app.  Download the SRV Fire app (titled SRV Fire) and start a request. You can submit the request with pictures. You can also click on Report a Hazard on this page. In both cases, you will receive updates on the progress of the work.  

The Fire District provides a list of weed abatement contractors that you can view on this page.  Click on Abatement Service Providers. Contractors can also be found by searching the internet for "weed control services" or "discing services."

As the current owner of record, you are still legally responsible to comply with all local ordinance regarding weed abatement.

Yes. The property must be maintained to meet the minimum standards throughout the fire season.
