San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District

If you treat conditions such as diabetes, arthritis or cancer at home and need to dispose of used needles, the District offers a convenient and no cost sharps disposal option.
Our Needles Drop Box is available for the safe, secure, and environmentally-responsible collection and disposal of needles, syringes, and lancets.
By providing this service the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, the City of San Ramon, the Town of Danville, Allied Waste Services and Central Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority hope to reduce the risk of needle sticks in our community. Improper disposal of used or unwanted needles can cause a serious injury and pose significant health risks.
Waste workers are exposed to potential needle stick injuries and potential infection when inappropriate containers break open inside garbage trucks or sharps become exposed when sent to recycling facilities. Used needles can also cause painful infections and transmit serious diseases, such as HIV and hepatitis.
Please do not put medications in the Needles Dropbox. Medications can be disposed of at these locations.
Location
The drop box is located inside the San Ramon Police Department's Lobby at 2401 Crow Canyon Road, Suite B in San Ramon and is accessible when the Police Department is open, Monday-Friday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM except holidays.
