Portable fire extinguishers can save lives and property by containing or extinguishing small fires. San Ramon Valley Fire offers residents the opportunity to learn how to properly use a fire extinguisher through a hands on approach. Participants will learn the "PASS system" and have the opportunity to put out a real fire. This training is offered to groups of eight students or more. Proper Disposal of a Fire Extinguisher
If you have a fire extinguisher that has been used or has expired, you can dispose of the extinguisher by dropping it off at the Contra Costa County Household Hazardous Waste Center in Martinez. The Fire District does not refill or dispose of used fire extinguishers.
