A standing subcommittee consists solely of less than a quorum of the Board and is established to make routine and regular recommendations to the Board on specific subject matter. Depending on the current needs of the District, the Board’s standing committees (membership shown below) meet on a regular or as-needed basis to oversee an ongoing area of District activity. All standing committees are considered formal public meetings and are subject to the Ralph M. Brown Act. (the “Brown Act”). Ad hoc, or working committees, consist solely of less than a quorum of the Board, composed solely of members of the Board, are established to accomplish a limited or single purpose, and are temporary in nature. Ad hoc committees do not have continuing subject matter jurisdiction and do not have a meeting schedule fixed by formal action of the Board. The Brown Act does not apply to ad hoc committees. All subcommittees have a chairperson to establish the agenda and run the meetings.
